Hi all, I’m in need of some assistance.

I have a website which was migrated from Magento to WooCommerce. At the moment, the SEO title for all of the product pages is just basic text and not based on the available variables.

In the Yoast SEO search appearance settings, the SEO title is set to show Title | Separator | Site Title but this only appears on new pages that I create, not those that were migrated from Magento.

Is there a way to set the SEO title variables for all product pages in one click? I could not find this bulk setting anywhere.

    Thanks,
    Tom

We are sorry to hear that you’re having trouble. We totally understand how that could be frustrating for you! Let’s get down to the bottom of what’s going on here.

Yoast SEO should automatically output the SEO title for all the available products. However, there could be an issue specific to the migration process that you have followed during the migration from Magento to WooCommerce.

Can you please confirm whether Yoast SEO outputs the SEO title correctly when you go to edit the old products and update them without changing anything?

We look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you for the prompt reply!

    1. When I create a new product, the SEO title has the correct variables that I had configured in the Yoast SEO settings.

    2. When I edit an old product that was created on our previous Magento website and migrated to our new WooCommerce website, the SEO title simply has the text that was written in the “Meta Title” field in Magento and not the variables. I have to manually delete the text and insert the variables instead.

I am looking for a way to insert the variables for all product pages at once, which will save me a tone of work. We have almost 3,000 products on our website!

    Best regards,
    Tom

You can use the Yoast SEO → Tools → Bulk editor to edit the WooCommerce products SEO title in bulk and remove them to make sure the global template variable appears in the product’s title instead of what you have defined in the Magento.

This is exactly what I was looking for, thanks so much! I had no idea that removing the existing SEO title through the bulk editing page would reset the field to display the snippets that I have set through the settings page. Thanks for your help with this.

On a related note, are there any plans to add any additional filtering options to the bulk editing page? At the moment there is only the option to filter by type (media, pages, posts, products) which isn’t nearly enough when you have nearly 3,000 products not including additional pages.

It would be great if I were able to to filter by brand/manufacturer and to set the number of products per page…at the moment it’s only 10.

    Thanks,
    Tom

    Hi,

As of the moment, there aren’t any plans to add additional filters to the Bulk Editor aside from the content types.

However, as for controlling the pagination and number of items per page, there’s an open feature request which you can view here.

    We hope this helps!

Thanks for jumping in, Michael. The link you provided leads to a 404 error page; I’d love to sign up for an update regarding the pagination as it will take me hours to remove the SEO titles from the 2,700+ products on our website.

Continuing my previous message, I’ve managed to open the link by editing the URL. I see that the feature request is from 2018…I’m assuming that if it hasn’t been implemented yet it may never really happen?

    Hi,

Apologies for providing the incorrect link. I’ve edited my previous response for the correct URL to the GitHub issue.

Our product team will assess feature requests in relation to other open bug reports and new features. Based on their assessment, the feature request will be given a priority. Our developers work on the highest priority first. Unfortunately, this means we cannot give you an estimate if or when they’ll start working on your request.

If you have any further information that may affect the prioritization, please feel invited to add it to this forum topic or the GitHub issue.

    I do have another question:

In the bulk editor, when I click “Save” on a product that I’d like to remove its current SEO title I get a pop-up that says “Are you sure you want to remove the existing Yoast SEO Title?” and the SEO title is successfully removed after I click yes (I can see it after refreshing the page).

When clicking “Save all” (in hopes that it will remove the SEO titles for all 10 products that are visible in the bulk editor), nothing happens. I’ve tried opening the link in a new window but it doesn’t help…at the moment I am unable to remove the SEO title for more than one product at a time.

If I were able to remove the SEO titles for for 10 products at a time, I’d be okay with doing so to all 279 pages. But having to do it one product at a time is a never-ending task!
