I like this plugin, but have just one issue, which I am sure will not be a hard fix, just dont have it:

How do I change the size of the slider? I am using it solely as a video slider, (to display most recent epsiode of all of my podcasts). So I want to make it a standard plaer size. Is this possible (WITHOUT CODING PREFERRABLY)?

Also, when clicking on the video slides, the video plays only as a small thumnail & the full screen button does not work. How do I resolve this as well?

You can change the size of the slideshow by setting the maximum width setting to the number of pixels of your liking. The height will automatically adjust to the width proportionally in the ratio you set in the ‘Proportional relationship’ setting. You can also set the ‘Shrink height when width shrinks’ setting to ‘No’ to be able to give your slideshow a fixed width.

Thanks for reporting the behaviour of the full screen button. This will be fixed in the next bug-fix release.

Yup, that worked perfectly! My only other question is about links. I know with text & image slides you can make them linkable. But what about the video slides? I would like to make them linkable to my show notes. Is that possible?

I’m sorry, that’s not possible yet. The video element itself shouldn’t be overlappedf by a link, as it hosts the controls for every video. I could, however, add a link image below or in a corner of the video. I can’t guarantee that it will be in any release soon though.

When I updated to the newest version of Slidshow today the slides became much smaller. They used to be width 900, and the settings did not change, which still says max 900.

    See example at https://www.teigfam.net/oyvind/home/hobby/054-leduncle-stand-lamp/054-1-leduncle-stand-lamp-slideshow/

What happened and how do I resolve it? Delete and add pictures anew?

    Hi Aclassifier,

I think you previously may have set the slideshow to be a larger height. The slideshow now by default works with an aspect ratio, but a fixed height can still be set by setting the ‘Shrink height when width shrinks’ setting to ‘No’.

You can then set the slideshow to be any number of pixels in height. After that, the image should be bigger again.

    Best regards,
    Stefan

Stephan, first thanks for getting back so quickly.
As for the link ability in video slides, what about just making the titles linkable? I understand it may be a while for such a feature & thats fine. Juat wanted to put in my 2 cents worth. I think making the Titles be clickable would be a great way to go.

That may indeed be the best way to go, I’ll have a look at it and see when I can include it into a release of the plugin.

Stefan, the pictures are still small. I tried several combinations, also with general settings. Which would rule? I fear the settings are not obvious enough, with partly conflicting statements. Like not proportional when I want a height. Proportional should be default always, with only one setting to tick it off, with no other conditions.

    (@stefanboonstra)

The default settings on the general settings page only apply to the slideshows you create, they don’t influence the slideshows you already have.

The proportional setting only affects the slideshow’s width and height, it has nothing to do with the image. The ‘Fit image into slide’ setting is already set to ‘No’ I see, so the image will never be stretched. Even when the ‘Proportional relationship’ setting is disabled.

I have now updated Slideshow and set height to 600. Seems ok now, here: https://www.teigfam.net/oyvind/home/hobby/054-leduncle-stand-lamp/ and here: https://www.teigfam.net/oyvind/home/hobby/055-chest-of-swingable-drawers/055-1-chest-of-swingable-drawers-slideshow/. I have an impression that it was the Slideshow update that did the trick, since I had tried those settings.

But the pages seem unattentive to scroll etc. during loading of the slides. Also, this seems to take longer than expected. Could this be a problem with Slideshow, the browser (maybe only on Safari on OSX and not on Chrome on OSX) or rather a problem with the database connection at https://www.one.com (which host my page, and which has indeed had some problems). (And I have updated in a wp-config.php, see https://www.teigfam.net/oyvind/home/technology/061-wordpress/)

Are there any other good slideshow plugins out there that would be more stable? I have tried another one, and Slideshow was better than that one..

The page doesn’t seem to be inattentive to scrolling on my system when trying to load the slides with Safari on Windows. Have you encountered that problem on any other website before?

The time it takes to load the slides most often depends on the speed of your server or the speed that the server is limited to to deliver. Larger images of course make for a longer page load. The next major update (version 2.3.0) will take care of loading efficiency though.

I know there are a lot of plugins out there that require a payment before you can use them. I think Google may be able to assist you better in your search for another plugin.

    >Have you encountered that problem on any other website before?
Well,.. not to the extent that I have noticed.

I also see late downloads on some of my other WordPress pages, but not in the non-wordpress on the same url.

How multitreading is done in the different browsers I assume also would influence the responsiveness.

Thanks for the responsiveness!-) I’ll take another update or ten!-)
