As administrator I can change the status of a post while editing it, but this option is not available to normal users. They can only change status from the overview menu > Quick Edit. I’ve searched the permissions with User Role Editor for ‘status’ and normal user has all available permissions. Is there another permission I should be looking for?

    Hi @jimdeadlock

I will look into this and check the permissions, I need some time to do this. As soon as I find a solution, I will come back to this ticket.

    Hi @jimdeadlock

I’ve gone through the cases once and I can assign the status any way I want. The user levels “author”, “editor” and “contributor” can easily assign a status within the backend editor.
The status field is located on the right side (in the sidebar) at the end. See the following screenshot.

Is this what you are searching for?

Ahhh I see… well then my problem is caused by the fact that we use the Classic Editor plugin! We used to use Jetpack for this function and it puts an ‘edit’ link next to the status which opens a dropdown to change the status.

Anyway, the mystery is solved, thanks ??
