  • You’ll need to edit the style.css. It’s best to do this with a child theme though or using a custom CSS plugin.

If you can provide a link to your site, we can have a look at the CSS and tell you what changes need to be made.

Thanks. It’s an adult site so I’d rather not give it out. Does it matter since I gave you the theme name? I’m old school, first site up in 1993, but due to an illness I lost most memory, so WP is almost new to me. Child themes are still somewhat confusing in that I’m not sure what you need in each. I had a site designed and he used a child theme which is how I learned of them.

I’m a little lost on the plugin. I used one but it would have been less work to just edit the file. What is the advantage of using the plugin?

I’m off to edit style.css by hand. I’ll backup the original in case you convince me to use a plugin.

Well, now I need to know which line to change? This is frustrating as I used to code CSS files; now I can’t even figure out which line the text color is in.

Try using Firefox with the Firebug add-on for this kind of CSS troubleshooting. Or use whatever developer tool is available in your web browser.

Will that show me which code goes with each section? Someone else suggested that but I don’t see what the plugin has/does that you can’t do manually.

I downloaded a few more themes in the hopes I find one with black text, not gray text

Will that show me which code goes with each section?

It will show you what CSS is currently being used in each section, yes. That should help you to determine what CSS you need to change or add.

I guess I did something wrong I had to paste the CSS code in but it then just shows there. It is just like editing the file itself – if II knew where to edit ??
