Changing the beginning of the year?

Hello!

I’m want to use WP for the website of a soccer club.

My problem is that the season starts in July and not in January.

Of course I could make a category like “season 07/08” and so on, but this would not only let the number of categories grow fast (there are plans to add all the stuff from the last years to the database) but also it would be a waste of the possibility of sorting the content by date.

Stuff like “News January 2007” could still be found by date, but other data that belongs together wouldn’t be hold together when sorting by date because one half of it was in one year and the other in the next.

So is there a plug-in or a hack or anything that could help my problem? At best, it would work like the “Your week begins with …” setting in the WP options. But if not, anything more complicated would be appriciated too.
