• Hi.

I would like to change the original name for the “blog” category to “news”, so that every visitor sees url.com/news/2017/02/10/name-on-post

What way to go to change this, without destroying anything URL-related? Thanks in advance for help.

    Hello klasa,

    Please follow below steps:

    1. Navigate to Categories Dashboard > Posts > Categories and edit blog category.
    2. Then at edit category screen change category name “Blog” to “News” and slug “blog” to “news” and click on update button.

    Hope this will helps you.

Hi and thanks for your answer.

Unfortunately it doesn’t do anything. I changed from “Blog” to “News” but when I try to visit the url it shows a 404 ??

Even though both the name and the slug are changed, I can still visit the “blog” folder. Strange?

To clarify; it’s not the actual blog-category I want to change the name of, it’s the folder itself. url.com/blog/date/postname to -> url.com/news/date/postname

I guess, if I go into the server via FTP and just change the name of the folder that I will mess up alot of database connections? Right?

Will things get messed up if I go in and change the following, from “blog” to “news”? (Settings > Permalinks > Custom structure). I already have blogposts and pages and ofcourse do not want to mess up the database structure anyway.

    Example
