Changing the Blog directory

  • Hi. When I first installed everything I uploaded it all to a folder called wordpress. I’m almost at the point where I am done with all of my modifying. If I changed that foldername to /blog instead of /wordpress would it mess the whole thing up?

    Actually, what’s the best way to make it so that my /wordpress/index.php is instead in my main directory… without messing the whole thing up?

  • Move everything from your wordpress directory to your root directory and then change the settings in your config.php file.

    If you want it in a directory called blog then just rename your wordpress directory and change the settings in your config.php file.

    … But don’t forget that the directory is also specified in your database (See Options -> General for the two URI values)

    Sorry…I work with too many different php apps and have a difficult time keeping track of all the little “quarks” in each.
