changing the index page

hello
i have setup wordpress with a bunch of templates files that are the “about”, “contact” pages (so they dont look at all like the blog page, no sidebar etc…)my problem is that i would like for example the “site” page to be in the index and not the index itself(the blog), i have change the config in reading settings option for this setting the front page as “site”(one of my custom pages) but the select box for the post page only shows my other templates as options not the wp index
