• I’ve done all the basic changes that are required when you move a WordPress installation from a sub directory to the root directory.

    added lines to wp-config.php

    define('WP_HOME','https://example.com');
    define('WP_SITEURL','https://example.com');

    I transfers the files to root Directory, and
    I only got the home page up, all the other pages direct to sub directorys 404 error page. I also can’t access the dashboard.

    I even tried replacing the .htaccess file you had with the default .htaccess file for WordPress, but that too didn’t fix the issue. I checked and confirmed that ymy siteurl and home url are pointed to my domain root directory and not to the sub-directory.

    Any way to correct this?

  • What’s your URL?

    Have you reviewed Moving_WordPress?

    A quick search in the forums pointed towards the settings of perma links. I manually did make the changes to the .htaccess, but this didn’t fix it either. I’ve reverted all the changes I’ve made.
    I even reverted all the changes, to access the old dashboard, and make the permalink changes they suggest there. but couldnt get that to work either.

    This is where your URL kind of becomes important. Please share that. That’s why the forum asks for it in the first place.

    If your homepage is working, it will give us insight as to what’s going on.
