    Hi there,

That snippet can be effective to change a lot of things, but you would likely want to edit a PHP template to change those messages in a more permanent way. You can view our guide on editing templates here: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/customizing-template-files-2/

And the List of files for RSVPs and Tickets lives here: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/ticket-rsvp-template-files/

You would look under /v2/rsvp/messages/success.php for the success message, and for the email you would want to edit /tickets/email.php

Please let me know if you have questions

    Hi,
thank you very much. While I understand the concept of template overriding and found the files needed, I don’t see how to change the German translations of the respective strings.
I tried using Loco Translate but as soon as I changed a string, other strings that were OK got messed up. Strangely this wasn’t reversible even by deactivating Loco Translation.
    Looking forward to learn,
    Lukas

Hi @lukashuggenberg, with Loco Translate, could you try clicking on the Sync button — this would reset the translations and you could update it accordingly.

Let us know how it goes.

    Hi,
Syncing had no effect, the formerly German strings remained English.
Those I could retranslate using the snippet.
Now that all formerly German strings are in English I should be able to change the strings in the respective php files.
I hope this won’t be reverted by the next plugin updates.
    Best,
    Lukas

Hi @lukashuggenberg, thanks for getting back to me here. To safely keep your translation Loco Translate allows you to Relocate the translation file, so whenever there are updates with our plugin or WordPress updates your translations would be secured.

See the article here with the heading “Relocating Translations”:
    https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/managing-translations-with-loco-translate/

Let me know if that helps.

    Hi Abz,
thanks, I know, but as far as I see it’s not possible to translate the strings in the confirmation email via Loco Translate. Or did I miss something?
btw. I just was wondering if the changes made with the snippet are safe, but I think they are.
For the php files I know that I must copy them and their folder path to the child theme.

    Lukas

Hi @lukashuggenberg, yes that’s correct the only way is to update it via template override. See the URL here with the heading Emails → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/ticket-rsvp-template-files/.

Yes to be safe when doing the template override, you should create it on your child theme. Here’s why → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/how-to-create-a-child-theme-and-why/.
