Changing Theme Pictures

OMG!!! I need help! I’m trying to change my theme pictures on the home page, I am using FTP and deleted the sample pictures and added mine to the same folder. I am trying to figure out how to edit the CSS but have no clue what I’m doing. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP this is driving me nuts!!!!
