    Hi Guys,

I have a client who have an old HTML website at a hosting space. We are developing a wordpress build at a new hosting space.

The old site is at https://www.abcd.com – the new WP build is at a temp URL eg https://90.80.70.6/~abcd

The new temporary space will have https://www.abcd.com as its domain name when complete. The old host space will be decommisioned/dumped.

So the WP build will remain in place but its absolute URL will currently be https://90.80.70.6/~abcd while building. All post images etc will have this URL.

When it comes to time to dump the old site and “transfer” / link the old URL – https://www.abcd.com – to the new space this will work only so far. All the images and other things relying on the absolute link will remain pointing to https://90.80.70.6/~abcd

Has anyone done this? Any advice on plugins to quickly fix this? Whats best practice?

The new site WILL have alot of images as it will be a catalog based site. Manually changing each one after this URL “move” would be a nightmare.

    Cheers & thanks
    Aidan
