Changing User Permalink to Custom Field

  • Is there any possible way of changing the user profile permalink base to something other than what is offered in the drop-down list in the user settings? For instance, rather than display a username, or first-name/last-name etc. I’d like to show a custom field “company-name”.

    This way when users select a member (or in this case, a company) profile card to view, it shows the company name in the url, instead of the username of the user of that company etc.

    Have you tried choosing the “Custom fields” in the “User Display Name” settings? When you select it, there’s another field that will show up so that you can ad the custom field key. Please go to WP Admin > Ultimate Member > Settings > General > Users.

    Yes, I’ve set this up and it works great. But this is just to display the custom field on the users profile.

    I’m talking about the user permalink base. I’d like to set this to a custom field…Is this possible? Current options are only username; firstname+lastname; or user ID.

    I’d like to do the exact same thing. Did you get an answer on how to do it?

    The answer didn’t address what the user wanted which is more choices in the permalink structure. I’d also like to see those choices be role dependent.

    Sorry for the mix-up. Unfortunately, this requires customization on your end. We don’t have a custom code for now to achieve this but I hope someone in the forum has done something similar and share their solution here.

    It seems like everything “requires customization on your end”. Things that seem like they should work require me to find someone to hire to make it work?

    We cannot add a lot of functionalities and features to the UM core as it will make the settings complex that’s why we added action and filter hooks to extend the functionalities and features especially when you are building a complex site. I wrote a lot of custom codes in the forum and on Gists. We cannot write code for all requests as We’re busy building extensions, maintaining the core plugin, writing docs, and spending a lot of time providing support to premium customers and people in the free support forum.
