So I created a new channel. Added all the necessary data, added a few posts, and then pressed the “Validate” link on the Powerpress Podcast Channels tab and I have the following issues:

ERROR: More than likely you have a theme or plugin that is adding an image to your RSS feed. Most likely this is a favicon image that is small, 16×16 or 32×32. This will cause problems if you want to put your podcast on Spotify.

WARNING: Your title ID3 tag is missing.

WARNING: Your RSS feed should be linked in the head of your podcast website, using a link tag.

I’m not sure anything I have done could have made these problems… but maybe?

    Hi mtjarrett,

You can ignore the ID3 tag warning from Cast Feed Validator. The validator has issues reading media file tags sometimes.

For the other two issues, try this:
1.) Log in to your WordPress site
2.) Go to PowerPress >> Settings >> Feeds tab
3.) Check the box next to Do not allow other plugins to modify podcast feeds; check the box next to Include podcast feed links in HTML headers. and click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page
4.) Clear any site caches, if applicable

Thanks. Not solved, but pressing the Validate link is causing more issues to the site, so I am just going to bail.

I ran your podcast RSS feed here:
    https://thetrinitymission.org/feed/fiveminutes

Thru Cast Feed Validator and the only issue is that the Feed Landing Page setting is set to this URL:
    https://thetrinitymission.org/fiveminutes

Which is an RSS feed URL. The Feed Landing Page URL needs to link to a webpage, not an RSS feed.

I appreciate you doing that Shawn but that is actually part of the problem. I have a page at https://thetrinitymission.org/fiveminutes . But every time I run the validator Powerpress changes that page to be a feed. Then I have to deactivate Powerpress, reset the permalinks, go to the page, then reactivate Powerpress. If you can help me solve why that is happening, that would be super helpful.

Go to the page first https://thetrinitymission.org/fiveminutes

Then try validating and then go back to the page.

You can’t have /fiveminutes/ be a podcast RSS feed URL slug and a webpage URL slug on the same WordPress site. Slugs have to be unique. This page has some suggestions that may help:
    https://create.blubrry.com/resources/powerpress/advanced-tools-and-options/disabling-powerpress/

That support document refers specifically to the /podcast/ slug that PowerPress uses for the default podcast RSS feed on all WordPress sites, but it may offer some guidance in fixing the issue you’re experiencing.

Alternatively, if you prefer the /fiveminutes/ slug to be used as a page within your WordPress site, just create a new Podcast Channel and give it a slug like /fiveminutes-podcast/ or something similar. Just anything other than /fiveminutes/ and you’ll no longer have this problem.
