Character format error?

  • I’m moving a wordpress installation from one web host to another. i used PHPmyadmin to export the database and import it on the new server. I think most everything is working except for some reason all the pages and posts have weird characters now. Like a diamond with a question mark in it for example. I think it is not understanding line breaks, non breaking spaces, etc. Any ideas how I can fix this? It’s basically every single page in wordpress.

    Also, for reference, the .sql file I downloaded says it is utf8 and when I uploaded it using phpmyadmin I also selected that from the dropdown menu…

    Generally the collation is set as utf8_general_ci.

    Make sure that you have selected the correct collation from the home page of phpmyadmin from drop down menu.
