Charlie Parker error "could not create directory"

  • I tried the auto updating function to install 3.8 but get the error in the subject field. There’s no information which directory needs to be created. Does anyone know what’s going on? Some permissions issue perhaps?

    I suspect I’ll have to contact my hosting provider but at the moment I don’t know what to tell them ??

    Well, the error is only what’s in the subject field. The total text of the message is:

    Downloading update from https://www.ads-software.com/wordpress-3.8-new-bundled.zip…

    Unpacking the update…

    Could not create directory.

    Installation Failed

    Sounds like you may have an issue with the server’s temp directory. Have you spoken to your hosts about this?

    Aha, thanks esmi. I have contacted the host but as I wasn’t sure what directory this concerned they couldn’t really help me.

    Could I perhaps set the permissions myself on the temp directory? If so which should they be (and where’s that directory)?
