Charset problems

I guess this is slightly off topic, as I believe this is not the plugin’s fault (of course I could be wrong) but as some here might have faced the same problem as I, there might be some who could help ??

I’ve created an export file which i then try to import into Excel, but no matter what character set I specify in the import wizard, non-english characters get mangled.

The export plugin seems to produce a UTF-8 encoded file, ref

$ file -I b.users.csv
b.users.csv: text/plain; charset=utf-8

If anybody have experienced the same and managed to find a solution, I’d be grateful.
