• I’m in the process of evaluating a number of different themes for my WP site, and I get this “Cheatin’ uh?” message about one-third of the time when I change themes. I’ve read other threads that claim it’s not WP’s fault, but a problem with poor theme or plug-in programming. Why is it then, that the theme that “causes the problem” today, didn’t cause it yesterday? Or the one that did yesterday, doesn’t today? Or, when I go on and experiment with some others, the one that caused problems earlier no longer does when I try it again later?

And, what’s with the smart-alecky error message being foisted upon an innocent WP user? What on earth am I supposedly doing that’s considered cheating? This poor attempt at humor is a very irritating failure to those of us who are NOT cheating, but trying to get some work done.

Since the message is generated when themes from several different vendors are tested, it’s clear that the message comes from WordPress. Note — I didn’t say WP caused the error, I said it must have found something it didn’t like about the theme and then presented me with a completely meaningless error message based on that. How can I even begin to report the problem to any theme vendor when the message tells me nothing about what I should report to them? Why is it so hard for WP programmers to let me know what the problem is, rather than giving me a smart-a$$ meaningless error message? They obviously must think I’m trying to get away with something, or perhaps they think the theme writer is, but I have no idea what it is because everyone who’s knowledgeable seems to think such an answer is beneath them. This whole experience is really disappointing and frustrating…

    That is not correct.

    with a completely meaningless error

The error, as generated is not meaningless.

How can I even begin to report the problem to any theme vendor when the message tells me nothing about what I should report to them?

Simply report the error you are seeing.

Why is it so hard for WP programmers to let me know what the problem is, rather than giving me a smart-a$$ meaningless error message?

It is, again, not meaningless. What providers of Commercial Products output is up to them, WP has no control of it.

Until you ask the theme provider this, it will not be resolved.

Going back and forth on this is not helpful.

No matter how you pose the question related to “Cheatin’, uh?”, the answer is not going to change.

I didn’t say the error is meaningless; I said the message is meaningless because it tells me nothing about what the error is. As long as you refuse to understand what I’m asking, and unexplainedly claim that the message doesn’t come from WP, any attempt at securing help from this forum is a waste of time — not because the question I’m asking isn’t appropriate, but because it’s apparently not within your field of interest, or knowledge. I agree with you that we’re both wasting our time here — me because no one will attempt to answer my question, and you because you don’t understand the question but keep giving me useless comments anyway. This topic may as well be closed because I’m clearly not going to get any help from this forum. Rather than chiding me, perhaps you yourself should review what the word “help” means.

but because it’s apparently not within your field of interest, or knowledge.

Please be polite in the forums.

any attempt at securing help from this forum is a waste of time

Please simply review posts other than yours to see how it all works here.

no one will attempt to answer my question

Your question has been answered here multiple times.

Yes, I agree it should be closed. It is answered.

No, it absolutely has not been answered — ever, not just this time.

All I was told is that you weren’t interested in answering it, and I should go elsewhere. Perhaps you consider that “polite”, but I do not.

I do understand how things are supposed to work on this forum, and I see many instances when responses to other questions have been sincere, polite, and helpful. In fact, I have genuinely and gratefully been helped in the past. Your answers to this question, unfortunately, have not helped, and I do not understand why you keep responding when you have no intention of trying.

You’re about to get your wish. I’m going away completely frustrated. I absolutely cannot mark the topic as “resolved” because it is not.

Can a mod please review and then close this post?

I AM NOT using some fly-by-night site’s infected themes!

I recommend you contact your theme’s developers. You’ll be more likely to find a good answer from them, for they have the access to its code. Forum volunteers are not given access to commercial products, so they would not know why your commercial theme or plugin is not working properly. The vendors are responsible for supporting their commercial product. These forums are for free themes available in the WordPress theme directory at www.ads-software.com/themes/. See https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Forum_Welcome#Commercial_Products

Please be nicer to the volunteer helpers who are trying to help you. Nobody here works for you. I think @pioneer Web Design has been trying to help you, and has been very polite.
