I’ve recently moved my install to a new server.
WP cron is disabled but I have a server cron running every 5 minutes.

    Check for new statistics
    Check for vulnerabilities
    Ping childs sites
    all run as expected.

But, Check for available updates hasn’t run since the site was moved.

I’m not sure if this is a bug in the display or if the job just isn’t running.
I just installed wp crontrol and ran the job manually and the last run date hasn’t updated.
If I browse to /wp-cron.php?doing_wp_cron the date also doesn’t get updated.

I see no errors related to the running of the cron job.

Are there any server requirements that might prevent this single job from running?

I’m on php 7.2 and the site was also running on 7.2 on the previous host.

Is there any way to enable logging to see what the problem is?
Enabling wp logging doesn’t save any debug.log file.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the reply.

I’m not exactly sure what I did the other day, but it now looks like the cron last run times are correct.

I’ll mark this as resolved. I think it must have been some issue on my end.

    Sorry to waste your time!.

    Hi,

Just opening this again as I noticed the same thing happening on another install.

This time nothing was changed, just mainwp updated.

It was running version 4.0.1 and all crons seem to be fine other than the one that checks for available updates.

Like the other install, this one also has wp cron disabled and runs a server cron.

    Image of cron status

I needed to get this going so installed crontrol again and ran all the jobs manually.
I also updated to the latest version at the same time, so it’s possible that this is something that was fixed after 4.0.1.

    Hi @robwent,

Please open a helpdesk ticket so we can look into this.

Unfortunately, once you manually trigger the cron, it then seems to run as normal again.

So when I checked just now, this install now seems to be running as normal again.
