• I know that WordPress has a admin option to allow comments through for users that already have an approved comment. What I need to know is how does it check to see if they already have an approved comment.

    I went through some of the source code but couldn’t figure it out. If anyone out there knows and can help me out that would be awesome.

  • I think it checks the email, but haven’t tested it to verify. I can’t think of another way it could be accomplished with unregistered users.

    Yeah. I guess it just goes through the database and looks for a matching email but I was hoping that there might be a more efficient way that they have figured out. If you have thousands of comments and have to pull down every email to find a match it seems like it could get pretty demanding for your server.
