I updated from plugin V 2.5.2 to V2.5.3. Before the update the Checkbox display options to opt-in to my newsletter appeared after the email address field in checkout. After the update it no longer displays the opt-in checkbox or text, regardless of the Checkbox display options setting. I tried two different scenarios, first I updated every plugin to the latest to see if it worked, it didn’t work. Then I reverted to my working version and only updated this plugin, made no other changes to plugins or settings, and it still stopped working. So, it appears to be something with the 2.5.2 to 2.5.3 update to this plugin that broke this functionality.

    Hello there,
Thank for reaching out to the support team. And trying a few troubleshooting steps of updating plugins.

We certainly want to make sure people can signup to your newsletter on checkout.

I was able to run some test on 2.5.2 and 2.5.3 and was unable to reproduce the exact issue as described.

To help us troubleshoot further, would it be possible to disable all plugins except Woocommerce and Mailchimp for WooCommerce? This could help us zero in on what may be at hand and reduce the chance of any other interference with other plugins.

Also to help us rule the possibility of a Front-end issue can you check the web inspector to view the HTML on the checkout page and try seeing if the code for mailchimp-newsletter is still present?

Lastly, as just to make sure all the bases are covered can you confirm if the plugin is still activated and syncing to Mailchimp? Is any e-commerce data coming over to your Mailchimp Audience?

Thanks for the reply Jordan. I did some more testing and here is what I have come up with.

I have two separate accounts that I do my Web site testing with. Both accounts are in my MailChimp audience and neither is unsubscribed. The first account I test with does not show the option to opt-in to my newsletter, probably because they are listed as Subscribed in my audience. The second account does list the option to opt-in to my newsletter. In my audience this account indicates that “This person is only eligible for transactional emails.” It doesn’t list that contact as either subscribed or unsubscribed. How are contacts getting into my audience who aren’t subscribed, or unsubscribed?

@mxgolfcpu, our apologies this went unanswered. Since it’s been quite awhile, and several versions released, would you please start a new thread over at our GitHub plugin page if you’re still experiencing the issue as described: https://github.com/mailchimp/mc-woocommerce/. From here, you can receive direct responses from the development team, log new issues, download the latest version, and track existing support tickets.
