• It appears the checkbox reCAPTCHA v2 is not working. I added it after not being able to verify whether the invisible version was working. I got a couple of spam emails.

I switched to the checkbox and clicked on “No Conflict Mode” assuming that previous attempts at the reCAPTCHA may still be in the system.

Still, this has no effect on the form as the “checkbox” does not appear.

Regardless, making the form as useful as possible to prevent spam is my number one priority.

I also use a separate Donation plugin from Give and see that you also offer integration for PayPal and Stripe. It’s something I would consider to cut down on the number of plugins my site uses but only after I’m satisfied that the free version actually works as expected.

Setup is pretty straightforward and the only other thing I can think of is a conflict with another plugin. I’ll create a staging site later today to troubleshoot but right now, it’s not looking good. Any help in pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated.

    Hi kjam,

When you get the chance, could you check that the reCAPTCHA field has been enabled in the form? To enable reCAPTCHA in the form builder, go to Settings > General and scroll to select Enable Google Checkbox v2 reCAPTCHA. Please a screenshot of its location. In case it helps we have a detailed tutorial on how to set up reCAPTCHA in WPForms.

If you’ve already enabled the reCAPTCHA checkbox, you might want to test for any theme or plugin conflict. WPBeginner has a detailed guide on troubleshooting WordPress.

    Hope this helps ??

Here’s a capture showing it enabled. I’ll be setting up the staging site shortly to troubleshoot.

    reCAPTCHA

I set up a staging site and created new keys for the reCAPTCHA. First, I changed to the Twenty Seventeen theme and that did not resolve the issue.

Then I switched back to the Child theme of Customizr Pro and deactivated all of the plugins except WP Forms. It still does not work.

Beyond that, I’m at a loss as to why this isn’t working.

Please disregard my posts. There’s something else at play. I went back to the Contact 7 form and it has the same issues. When I view the source, I can see the reCAPTCHA is enabled and executed but doesn’t prevent spam messages from coming into my inbox. Also, the badge does not appear at all with v3 in their plugin (even though it’s not hidden) indicating there is some other issue at play.

I just can’t find any conflicts with my theme nor plugins. I’ll post in Google’s forum to see what can be done. Thanks!

    Hi kjam,

Thanks for the details! If you have added reCAPTCHA keys to another plugin such as Constant Contact, could you try removing the keys before deactivating the plugin to see if that resolves the issue?

In case it helps, you’ll have to check that reCAPTCHA is enabled for each individual forms by going to the Forms Overview page to click on the individual form. In the form builder, go to Settings > General to select Enable Google Checkbox v2 reCAPTCHA.

    Hope this helps ??
