Checked Tutorial But Some Images Not Converting to Webp

Most of the images are available on your website in WebP format. Some are not, but this is due to the fact that after converting to the WebP format, they did not weigh less than the original ones. This happens with smaller images or those that have been previously optimized. These are simply the limits of the WebP format.

However, there is a solution to this. I recommend you to try the AVIF format on your website. Images converted to the AVIF format on your website can weigh about 50% less than images converted to WebP only, maintaining even better image quality. This will further improve the performance of your website.

Hi there, thanks so much for your quick reply.

So, I followed your steps and selected AVIF in the settings and started the bulk optimisation. However that pushed the CPU to almost 100% and my site crashed. Do you have any recommendations around this?

@isabelle09876 That’s weird. When you converted images to WebP format, there were no problems, right? And then the images are converted locally, by your server. In the case of the AVIF format, images are converted by a remote server, so the load on your server is much lower.

But back to your message. Generally, when the server is under too much load, it may hang, but as far as I know about servers, everything returns to normal after the load ends. And what does it look like for you?
