Checking for OpenSSL and cURL Versions

  • Is there a way to check on what version of OpenSSL or cURL your server host is running? Also, what version of each is required to run the latest WordPress properly?

  • You will have to check with your web host. OpenSSL is only necessary if you are using SSL (https connections). cURL, I don’t think that is necessary for WordPress, either. For cURL, you can run the phpinfo() function inside a PHP file and it will put out information about the PHP installation including cURL.
