Checkout Coupon Code shows as applied but doesn’t discount Total

I cannot get my coupon to be applied to the total after entering it. I have set up the coupon code “march” for 10% off. after registering on our site, adding items to meet our $45 minimum, going to checkout page, entering “march” in the coupon code area it is applied below “Subtotal” in the correct amount. But at the total below it is not subtracted from our total. Please help. I have deactivated each plugin 1 at a time and tested it with no luck. I have also switched to another theme “twenty seventeen” with no luck. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get this to work?
