Checkout Error on “Place Order” Button

  • Hey!
    I’ve been using Woocommerce for a long time now… Recently, I’m facing some problems…

    **1**

    On the Checkout Page, after the customer clicks the “Place Order” button, it automatically redirected the customer to Thank You page earlier… But, recently out of nowhere, it isn’t working anymore…
    Customer clicks, nothing happens on the frontend, it just refreshes the section… On the other hand, the order is received on the backend…

    I did try to dig for a solution but failed…

    As I checked on the Console –
    “jquery.min.js?ver=3.5.1:2
    POST https://curiouscraft.com.bd/?wc-ajax=checkout 500”

    I also tried to troubleshoot by disabling my theme and some other plugins, result is the same…!

    My theme is Avada… Templates, that are overridden –
    Avada/woocommerce/cart/cart.php,
    Avada/woocommerce/checkout/form-pay.php,
    Avada/woocommerce/checkout/review-order.php,
    Avada/woocommerce/checkout/thankyou.php,
    Avada/woocommerce/loop/loop-start.php,
    Avada/woocommerce/single-product/add-to-cart/variable.php,
    Avada/woocommerce/single-product/short-description.php,
    Avada/woocommerce/single-product/tabs/additional-information.php,
    Avada/woocommerce/single-product/tabs/description.php

    I also cleared the Template Cache… Still no change…

    Let me add, I also do have Thank You Page plugin… I did disabled that plugin to check if it’s redirected to the default Thank You page of Woocommerce, but it doesn’t…

    I did notice, this problem started to appear with the first one I just stated…

    Whenever I try to update any action regarding Woocommerce, it fails…
    “There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions. Learn more about debugging in WordPress.”

    On this page, even if I use Debug, nothing else is shown…

    For example – an order is received, which is “on hold” by default… After manually selecting “Processing” or any other status and clicking the “Update” button causes this issue…

    Please help me solve these problems…

    Hi @zadid!

    The 500 internal server error is a very generic error and could be coming from anywhere. You mentioned that you had disabled some plugins, but not all?

    Have you had a look at your fatal-error log found under “WooCommerce > Status > Logs” page to see what it gives you? You are welcome to paste that back here so we can take a closer look.

    Additionally, also send us your status report found under “WooCommerce > Status” page.

    Have you been able to resolve this issue? If not, I recommend first checking the caching settings for LiteSpeed Cache and the payment gateway settings that control the redirection. For caching, make sure that your Cart, Checkout and My Account pages are not being cached – https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/configuring-caching-plugins/.

    To narrow down if the issue is with the payment gateway, you could try another one like BACS to see if the same issue occurs.

    Finally, to narrow down the cause of the 500 errors, I recommend doing some conflict testing using this guide – https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/how-to-test-for-conflicts/.
