Checkout process very slow

    Hi,

    I have developed a number of sites with woocommerce before and not run into this problem however on the site I am currently developing the checkout process can take anywhere from 30s to 1 minute to show a thank you page and send the confirmation email. I have a different install of woocommerce running on the same server and the checkout process and emails run smoothly so I dont think this is an issue with sending mails taking to long, however that version of woocommerce is 3.2.1 not 3.2.6 which is the version I am having problems with.

    I have looked into the server logs and found no errors for either php, mysql or access. When inspecting the element on the cart page the only error I can see is the following:

    I have previously tried deactivating all existing plugins and switching to the default wordpress theme (2017) to see if there was a conflict and even in this scenario the checkout process is really slow.

    I have turned on WP_DEBUG to see if any errors show when checking out still to no avail, I am exhausting my options now and was wondering if any advice could be given on what to do? I have run through all of the steps outlined in the article you offer in the docs surrounding this issue and have run into a brick wall. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi @lewisjwright,

    Looking at your system report it’s worth seeing if your host can update your servers PHP version to PHP 7 as the version you currently have running on the server is a little outdated now. At the same time see if the can update MYSQL to at least v5.6 too.

    When I test on your site it seems like something is conflicting With WooCommerce on your site and halting checkout leaving the ajax spinner running but not completing.

    I can see you only have a single plugin enabled which is WooCommerce and a theme titled 2 Pound Home Theme, have you tested with a theme like Twenty Seventeen to rule out some code in the theme causing any slowdowns.

    If not your current theme that would then only leave your web server itself from looking at your system report.
