The Events page is set to a custom page. If I add a child page to that page the child page will return a 404 page. If I pick another page for the events page the child page will be shown correctly.

Also, if permalinks are not set the child page return the page.

Not using any caching, tryed to update permalinks, disabled all plugins and using the default twentytwelve theme.

Seems like others have had the same problem – but it seems like it has not been fixed yet.

how about if you create brand new pages and assign those as new event pages? you can call them whatever you want to begin with, reassign them in EM settings, and test them out, just to see if it works.

Then, you can rename the slugs etc. of these pages and make them children of the events page, hopefully it’ll still work.

We had to add a ‘hack’ to WP due to the way it generates permalink rules so that children of the Events page doesn’t coincide with actual events. Since the slug for both events and pages start with /events/ WP gets confused.

In a nutshell, the solution is to simply re-save your permalink settings after adding a child page to your events page. EM adds a special rule for any child pages it finds.

I have tryed to re-save my permalinks after the child page have been added. It still gives me a 404

Try temporarily switching to the default permalinks format, saving, then switching to the correct formating and resaving. I’ve noticed sometimes WP needs a bit of a kick to take notice.
