    Hello,

Today I reached out in a different thread due to a plugin issue on my multisite but I’ve come to realise the problem is much greater than plugins. The one child site of my multisite network is experiencing the following problems:

    1. It says it has updated to the latest version but it is still on version 6.1.1. My parent site has been updated to 6.2. I’ve requested to reinstall it multiple times and it says it’s updated but it hasn’t. It also then shows it needs to be updated.
    2. There are 9 items on the Site Health screen, including a WordPress update available, which can’t be fixed, as pointed out above. 3 of these errors are critical apparently. One of those says that six plugins need updating. This is not correct. It also says I don’t have https or a default theme available which are also not correct.
    3. When I network activate a plugin it does not show up in my child site’s plugin directory and is not enabled on the site. It works fine on the parent site.

Please help as something is clearly stopping communication between my sites in the multisite network.

I did disable all plugins to have a check but it didn’t help. Thanks.

EDIT: I’ve disabled a bunch of plugins from the main network and they are still active on the child site. Clearly somewthing has gone wrong with communication between the child site and the main network.

EDIT 2: One of the critical errors is the following:

Your site could not complete a Loopback request

Loopback requests are used to run scheduled events, and are also used by the built-in editors for themes and plugins to verify code stability.

The loopback request to your site failed, this means features relying on them are not currently working as expected.
Error: cURL error 35: error:14094438:SSL routines:ssl3_read_bytes:tlsv1 alert internal error (http_request_failed)

All child sites operate on the same code base as the main and network sites, so if you are network updated to 6.2, all children are also 6.2 even if they don’t realize it. Same goes for themes and plugins.

A lot of the current site status is managed in each site’s DB options table. I suspect there’s an issue with this site’s options table such that current status cannot be written there.

In your hosting’s phpMyAdmin app, locate that site’s options table and navigate to it. Under the operations tab, there are a few things under table maintenance you can do like check the table. If you decide to try any of the more aggressive procedures that actually change the table, like defrag, repair, or optimize, please make a backup copy before proceeding.

Thank you for your reply. It turns out to have been an error during a recent transfer to a new web host. This has now been fixed so I’ll mark as resolved.
