Hi, I’m trying to create a childs theme for sugar and spice. I’ve done everything in my file manager, but when I go to my editor in the dashboard it’s telling me that the template is broken. I really don’t know what I’m doing wrong! I’ve made a child theme before. Can anyone tell me exactly what to copy and paste in to my child style.css to start my customizations?

I haven’t activated sugar & spice theme yet. I wanted to make some css customizations in the child theme first. Is that even possible?

site is The Healthy Collective although I don’t know how helpful that is, since I’m still on my old theme.

Just played around a bit more and it’s telling me I need to install the parent theme sugar and spice… which it is. Then I activated the parent theme to see if that changed anything but it didn’t. It’s still saying that the parent theme isn’t installed and that the child theme’s template is broken.

Hi Alex, is that plugin the best one to use in your opinion. It says it hasn’t been updated in 2 years. Does that matter?

I use it all the time. All it does is create proper folders and files.

I have downloaded the latest version of WP and unzipped the wp-content folder

now next step?
