child theme css replacement dont work?

    Hello!

    i am using the theme “responsive”.
    in the child theme i added to style.css:

    #logo {
    float: middle;
    margin: 0;
    text-align: center;
}

    it should replace the following original:

    #logo {
    float: left;
    margin: 0;
}

    this replacement works as it should if i do it directly to original, but in child it fails. what is wrong?
