Child themes not uploading to wordpress dashboard

    I tried to create a child theme using very simple instructions. (https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Child_Themes)

    The child themes are not showing up in my wordpress dashboard. I use FileZilla, and it’s clearly communicating with my dashboard, because whenever I download a new theme I can see it in Filezilla. But when i create a child theme in Filezilla, it does not show on my wordpress dashboard with the rest of the themes. Can anyone tell me why this might be happening?
