child theme hierarchy problem

  • Hi
    I am using sandbox as a parent theme.
    in my child theme, I would like tags/search etc to use my child theme index.php
    However if I remove tag.php archive.php etc from the parent theme folder, I assumed it would then revert, according to the template hierarchy to using my child index.php
    But it doesn’t, it uses the parent index.php

    how do i get it to use the child index.php as the default.
    any ideas?
