Child Theme Naming Conventions and the Repository
-
I’ve done a fair amount of searching, but haven’t been able to find any definitive answer on this. Now that child themes are submittable to the www.ads-software.com Themes Directory, is there an established or accepted naming convention for them? I have a child theme that was submitted, but rejected due to the use of “Twenty Twelve” in the title of the theme (https://themes.trac.www.ads-software.com/ticket/9668).
It would obviously be beneficial that users see that such themes are child themes, and therefore require the parent. Also, if a user is already using a parent theme and would like to find a child theme based on that, having that metadata surfaced (as it already is in styles.css) would be very important, and putting it in the title would only make it easier.
I definitely understand the need to protect the identity of the original parent theme, no questions asked there. Just trying to figure out if there’s a standard for this before I try a resubmission. Thanks to all for your thoughts, especially members of the reviewing team.
