child theme not working

So I did the child theme as recommended. Named it di-business-child. When I customize it looks like I want it to, so far. When I am in wordpress dashboard and do page preview it has none of my modifications I did in the customize screen of my child theme. When I publish it… same thing. None of my menu changes appear it shows the standard out of the box menu I am guessing.

I created functions.php like the wordpress codex stated.

Maybe I am missing something? Can anyone tell me “exactly” how to set this up correctly? Using di-business-child directory. I am really new to this.

Any help to dumb this down for me would be greatly appreciated!
