    Hi there,

I would like to use SKT IT Consultant theme for my clients website.
I’m used to making a child theme of a template I’m working on. Now mine keeps giving an error that parent template is missing although I installed SKT IT Consultant before I made the Child Theme.
I read somewhere that I could use custom css in Appearence>>Theme options.
My Dashboard only gives me Appearence >>> Theme’s not options.
Where (if possible) can I put custom css and still maintain the changes after an update? Is that in Editor or somewhere else?

    Thanks for your time.
    With regards, Ellen

    Hi Ellen,

There really shouldn’t be any issues using a child theme. In your child theme’s style.css file, what do you have as the value for the “Template:” line in the comment heading?

    Hi sdavis,

I tried itconsultant (that gave an error on the parent not being available) and later on I tried sktitconsultant. Same result.
I must be making a mistake somewhere.
Do you have an answer to this?
    Thanks for your time

The child theme should always connect to the parent theme based on the directory name of the parent theme, as mentioned here: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Child_Themes#How_to_Create_a_Child_Theme

So adjust it to Template: skt-it-consultant and that should work.

Oh i also tried skt-itconsultant. Same message was given: that the main theme wasn’t there.
