• Hi, I’m using the latest version from SVN in order to test the new child themes capabilities of WP (like to override some template files) and it seems to be working just fine, but anyway, there is some “official” documentation in order to read about this topic?

    Thanks in advance,

  • By official I guess you mean the Codex — there is Theme_Development.

No, by official I meant related to this new feature, not something generic about “theming”.

In the page you send me says

“Note that specifying a parent Theme will inherit all of the template files from that Theme — meaning that any template files in the child Theme’s directory will be ignored.”

and is not true, in 2.7 the child templates are not ignored at all.

I know how to search in Google, thanks, I’m just asking for documentation in order to avoid wasting time guessing the recommended way to implement a feature wich is really key.

Please feel free to fix any information in Codex that is incorrect, though Andy Skelton of Automattic made that statement you described above concerning the ‘current version’ of WordPress.

Ok MichaelH, I’ll do that. I’ve just created a Codex account.

    Thanks,
