I don’t fully understand Child Themes. I know they are used so that you don’t lose styling codes when the theme has an update. Someone said child themes pose a security risk. Is this true?
I was going to install a child theme for Mayashop so that I don’t lose my opt-in CSS coding, but now I’m worried.

  • If you want to be able to update the real theme I highly recommend a child theme. I have not had any sites get compromised as a result of their child themes.

Not really, unless your theme was doing some shady practices in the past? Otherwise there’s not much chance of a security flaw in a Template file (the files in question regarding the concern).
