Chinese word count problem

Gutenberg word count only counts Space! This can work in English, but in Chinese it is wrong. Chinese sentences have no Space! So word count will consider a sentence to be a word.
Because this bug, I can’t know the exact word count and some seo plugin will say my passage too few words.
