• We are getting
Warning chmod(): Operation not permitted 1
    wp-content/plugins/wordfence/vendor/wordfence/wf-waf/src/lib/storage/file.php:443

    We check all tests includes:
Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics) Under the “Other tests” section, click on the “Click to view your system’s configuration in a new window” link.

Nothing disable or missing all test looks green.

We still see an error in the admin – not sure why

Hi @101sam, thanks for your query.

If the diagnostics page looks good as you say with no failures reported, I think it may be a quirk with where Wordfence stores its logs rather than in the file specifically mentioned in this error.

Can you go into /wp-content and delete the wflogs folder entirely? Within around 30 minutes or sooner, the wflogs folder should rebuild itself without further manual action.

If this persists, you could try the WAF’s MySQLi storage engine, to avoid needing to write to the wflogs folder at all: https://www.wordfence.com/help/firewall/mysqli-storage-engine/

Let me know how you get on!

    Thanks,

    Peter.

    Thank you so much Peter,
The first part didn’t work as well but the second part works and explained a few performance issues we had with it.

    https://www.wordfence.com/help/firewall/mysqli-storage-engine/

We recently move to GCP Autoscale mode with cloud SQL and shared media buckets.
All behind Loadballancer on multi-regional configurations.

Now, we have a shared filesystem, but it’s regional, and when it’s sync to a different region when we update the WordPress.

I will definitely suggest to add it to the options in the setup, configurations changing files it’s not optimal and updates, reinstalling plugin can be forgotten.

Also, this triggers another question, how we maintain the tables, what size they can get?

    Kindly,
    Sam

Hi @101sam, thanks for the extra information.

We did see switching from log files to MySQLi solve a similar issue with a complex site setup in the past, so this should definitely help in your case now that I know more about the load balancing etc.

In Wordfence > All Options > Live Traffic Options, you can restrict the number of rows and days that data is kept for, so if you notice the table getting too large, this is available to you. Due to size of Wordfence database tables being variable depending on popularity of the site, amount of plugins installed and size/quantity of pages to scan, we cannot give a fixed answer on how much space this might take up but it’s likely to be in an acceptable range. With our large customer base we rarely see issues around database table size and are always working to improve the efficiency of Wordfence.

    Thanks,

    Peter.

    Thank you again,
I will definitely add MySQLi as an option to setup
