• Hi,

please can someone advise what CHMOD permissions need to be applied to a single PDF file in the \wp-content\uploads\ folde rin order for it not to be able to be browse/download/open with the URL form outside. I just need to be able to embed it in a page as a picture for viewing?

    MAny thanks

  • Hi ??

You can set the permissions as 644 as you wish to embed it in a Page. And disable the directory listing for “wp-content\uploads”, so that no one can access it from web until the complete file name is known.

Thanks Dan, how do I ‘disable the directory listing for “wp-content\uploads’?

    thank you in advance

    Hi,

If you are using cPanel, then Check the “Index Manager” option in Cpanel. See if that helps or you will have to create a .htaccess file and have to write a code to hide directory listing.
