• It’s going on two weeks now that I’ve had my domain up and WP loaded but I *still* haven’t written my first post! Of course, being a first timer, I thought this was going to be a lot easier, but it seems the more I learn the further down the rabbit hole I go! It began with trying to choose a theme, which lead to plug-ins… Security… SEO… Performance… etc… etc… etc..

As much as I would like to start off doing things the correct way out of the gate, I fear I could spend the next 6 months learning about WP and *still* only scratch the surface… Unfortunately, I don’t have 6 months, let alone another 6 days, to waste getting this thing going and I could *really* use a little guidance. I have a *huge* project planned, with a 5 month deadline and the site will become the “hub” for all my endeavors and related activities, so I can’t screw this up! But I can’t begin the other aspects of project planning until I have an online presence as I will be referring everyone to the site as a source of information.

But my greatest fear is rushing it and doing this all wrong, then having to go back and redo *everything* later, loosing hard-earned readership and SEO standings in the process… Am I overthinking this?

It’s a personal site where I intend to share my experience and knowledge with others, in the hopes of saving them from going through what I did. While it will certainly start out small, as already stated, I do have big plans for it down the road.

Am I worrying too much? Is this how everyone does it their first time out? Start simple, add functionality through plug-ins as you go, re-do certain things and eventually you get to where you want to be?

Thanks in advance. Any and all input would be greatly appreciated.
