choosing specific categories to display in top menu

    I would like to have links to some special categories of posts in my top menu, and then have the full list of categories in my sidebar. Currently all my categories display in the sidebar. I wanted to duplicate just 4 of them for the top menu (they are the important categories!)

    Before I hack together some of my own inelegant php, is there a proven way to do it?
