We have multiple image sizes in srcset. Does the plugin automatically choose which image to preload?

How about if we cache HTML – would it still preload the right image for mobile if HTML was cached via desktop?

    Hi There,

If you use the button to select the image, rather than use the URL, it will preload the image as a srcset. It isn’t the plugin’s that chooses which one to load, it is the browser that will pick the most suitable one to load based on the screen size.

As all images will be present, it shouldn’t affect cache. The problem does come if you just manually add a link. Sadly I don’t think there’s anything we can do for this unfortunately.

There are no screenshots for me to check for your plugin, but what do you mean by “use the button“?

We have thousands of articles with featured images already set… we cannot MANUALLY go through all and play with some buttons. Featured image is already set – the plugin should automatically take that info.

    Hi There,

If you click the “Find Image to Preload”, you can set an Image srcset for each page.

Right now, the plugin doesn’t automatically grab the featured image. However the next version (1.3) does. It’s currently doing some testing, you can get that version off Github – https://github.com/rhyswynne/preload-lcp-image-wordpress
