• I’ve just encountered a bug with WordPress that only exhibits with Chrome browser and in Tabs (versions 86 and 87 are ones I’ve tested with) on mac.

I go to a section, e.g. Posts, and then use the ‘add new’ link but open in a new tab. I then open another in a new tab immediately after.

The post_id in the form is the same in both tabs and means I overwrite the contents of the first when I use the second.

This doesn’t happen in Safari and has happened with a few different versions of WordPress (so isn’t a latest version problem). I presume something is happening in Chrome with Tabs that is broken (caching probably) but I don’t know how to address it or how to raise a bug issue with Chrome.

Has anybody else seen this and has anybody an idea why Chrome might be behaving badly with Tabs?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi,

Is “Tabs” a specific addon for Chrome, or do you just mean normal browser tabs?

I tried to replicate this issue in Chrome 87. From the All Posts screen I clicked Add New twice, each time having the link open in a new tab. I then put different content in each editor and published each post. The second post did not overwrite the first one, there were two separate published posts.

Am I getting the steps correct? If not, could you provide a step-by-step for reproducing the issue?
