Chrome White screen of death, buggy on Firefox & now 503 error

I’ve used Display Widgets on other sites without any trouble but on this mock site I think it’s causing all sorts of problems.
1) White screen of death using Chrome whenever I click on Appearance > Widgets
2) Buggy behavior on Firefox – when I am in Widgets and am selecting which component I’m using on which page, I see a never ending circle that shows saving or in progress
3) Twice now I’ve had a 503 Service Unavailable message. This has never ever ever happened to me on any other site I’ve worked on. And only happens when I activate and play around with Display Widgets.
I’m using Canvas theme with good plugins. There’s a conflict but I have no idea how to fix it other than deactivate DW. Any advice?
