    Hi,
My posts do not show in the reverse chronological order as suggested in the theme but change order randomly.
They are listed correctly on list of entries and show correctly looking on a phone, but on desktop and ipad they change order randonly.
Is this a glitch? Or does it have to do with size of images?

I would like them in chronological order from the bottom up. I don’t have any stickies turned on. If you look at the site please note it is password protected, the password is ‘london2012’
    Thank you

    Hi there,

I had a look at your site’s homepage and all the posts are displayed in a correct reverse chronological order. If you’re still seeing them arranged randomly can you grab a screenshot and share it here so I can better understand the issue? For quickly grabbing a screenshot you can use an online tool like https://snag.gy/

    Hi Fotis,

Thank you for looking into it, but it is neither on desktop or ipad in the correct order. On the backend it is perfect but on the screen grabs you can see that it it goes 2016>2017>2015>2012>2016>2011>2010. The ipad is different again.

It is correct on the phone. As it’s one entry only.
I can’t use Snag but in this folder are the screen grabs. Thank you so much!

I have now used the ‘Simple Post Order’ plug in to change the posts manually – they are now forced to display correctly on the desktop, as that is the clients priority, but makes them wrong on phone and ipad. I have looked at other people using the Rebalance theme and they have the same problem.
I really think it is a glitch in the theme?
The wesbite I have problems with is wia-hamburg.de

    thank you

    Hi there,

The layout you see on the front page is by design.

This theme uses what’s called a Masonry-grid layout, and that kind of layout does not always respect exact chronological order. Instead, it tries to fit together the grid without leaving gaps, based on factors like the post thumbnail size and the length of the post excerpts, using an algorithm. As new posts are added it also dynamically adjusts the front page order so new gaps don’t appear in the grid.

It sounds like the plugin you’re using overrides the masonry-grid on desktop, but not on mobile screens. You’d need to contact the developer of that plugin for help figuring out why that is the case.

This particular theme does not have an option to force a regular grid instead of the masonry-grid, so if that’s a deal-breaker for your client and the mobile-view cannot be fixed from the post order plugin’s end you might want to consider a different theme.
