• I have a blog in which I cite news articles from say MSNBC, Google News, Reuters, New York Times, etc..

My question is about permissions/copyrights, am I allowed to use the article as long as I link the source?

  • Not really. Depends though. Where are you?

You’re thinking the Fair Use clause of copyright law. The issue though is Fair Use doesn’t cover 100% of the content of an item.

    United States.

I see a lot of other sites doing it (such as InformationLiberation.com and PrisonPlanet.tv).

I see alot of jaywalkers every day. Still illegal in the US. ??

I’d say no but I don’rt think you’re going to get suid over it. They would send a ceise and desist first anyway. It’s credit and exposure for them.
