Clarification of PHP Requirements

I’d appreciate clarification of MailPoet 3’s requirements for PHP as it’s far from clear.

The plugin information on www.ads-software.com states: Requires PHP: 5.6 or higher….

However, in the changelog (on the same www.ads-software.com page) for version 3.45.0 issued on 2020-02-04 it states: Improved: PHP 7 is now required.

I interpret the above as meaning that prior to v3.45.0 PHP 7 was NOT required, but for it and subsequent versions PHP 7 WAS required – is this correct? If this IS correct then may I suggest you update the “Requires PHP” text as it’s now misleading.

Also, on the same topic, I use other plugins that now require PHP 7. Some of these (e.g. WooCommerce) are able to show a warning message: “There is a new version of x available, but it doesn’t work with your version of PHP”. Is this something you could add to MP3?
