Clarification on user roles

Just need clarification…in creating a website, if I create certain pages under a user designated as ‘author’, and the rest of the pages under a user designated as ‘editor’ or ‘administrator’, the pages created under the ‘author’ user can be edited by ‘author’, ‘editor’, or ‘administrator’, but the pages created under ‘editor’ or ‘administrator’ cannot be changed by the ‘author’ user….correct?
